Filmmaker Magazine's 25 New Faces of Independent Film
Unlike any other film event in the Pacific Northwest, the 25 New Faces of Independent Film program offers a unique opportunity to screen and discuss trendsetting independent films with some of the industry's most distinguished young directors, actors and actresses, producers, screenwriters, and cinematographers at the Tacoma Film Festival.
Filmmaker Magazine's List of 25
The 25 New Faces are named each year by the United States' leading cinema periodical, Filmmaker Magazine, and inclusion on the list of 25 has become one of the most prestigious honors a young filmmaker can receive.
Prior Year Nominees
The first list included directors Jessica Yu and Jamie Babbitt, actor Peter Sarsgaard, d.p. Amy Vincent, and composers Nathan Larson and Craig Wedren. They have been joined over the years by an incredible group of directors, writers, d.p.s, editors, production designers, and actors who have indeed remade and remodeled independent film.
For many of Filmmaker Magazine's readers, the 25 New Faces feature is where they've discovered early on Girls creator Lena Dunham, Drive star Ryan Gosling, The Crash Reel director Lucy Walker, multi-hyphenate Miranda July, Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli, and Pete's Dragon (2016) director David Lowery among dozens of others.
