This feature will include a talk from US Navy aircraft pilot Rich “Slim†McCreary, with Ted Huetter from the Museum of Flight.
Rich “Slim†McCreary is a retired US Navy aircraft carrier pilot that flew over 3300 hours in the A-4 Skyhawk, the same type of jet flown by Viper in the movie “Top Gun.†He flew two combat tours in Vietnam, and later taught advanced jet training to new Naval aviators. His Navy career from 1967 to 1985 spanned a time before and after the formation of the Top Gun school, giving him valuable insights on the tactics and effectiveness of this elite fighter pilot program.
