She’s mighty proud she isn’t “like other girls”; instead of worrying about her looks, she trains extensively to win from her male friends at her fencing school. But when she is confronted by her changing body that starts to develop more traits associated with femininity, and on top of it all gets her first period while at a fencing camp, she is forced to reevaluate the relationship she has to her body. As mother and daughter are separated for the first time, they both must find their freedom as they dare to step outside into a man's world. WA State Premiere
