TFF The Veldt Preview Night
October 7th 9:00pm
THE VELDT is a new virtual reality/360 degree film experience at the Tacoma Film Festival curated by Kim Voynar and Nathaniel Pinzon of Wondertek Labs, showcasing films presented on Samsung Gear and an interactive HTC Vive experience.
This special opening night event will feature demos of the 360 films visitors can experience at The Veldt all weekend, as well as exclusive one-night screenings of Austin transgender artist Stage McNulty’s examination of the Austin Graffiti Wall, Mechanical Dream VR’s KEXP Opening, and a sneak peek at a 360 music video by a well-known Seattle band.
The evening will showcase a performance at 10PM by Tacoma brothers musician Will Jordan and artist Christopher Paul Jordan. Chris will create an original work in Tiltbrush while Will performs music. The piece will be saved to a virtual gallery, and guests will be able to put on the VR headset and walk in and explore the work of digital art.
FabLab Tacoma will be on hand to help you build your own VR cardboard goggles, and you can enter to win a pair of limited-edition handmade, plywood VR goggles.
THE VELDT preview night includes Landmark DJ and DJ Baloogz, a signature cocktail from No Bar, and refreshments from Southern Kitchen.
